BIOGRAPHY
Julia Aspin was born in 1972 in Irkutsk, a Siberian city in Russia. The following year, her family moved to Ukraine, where she spent her childhood and early teen years.
Growing up in a country, Julia was exposed to the outdoors from an early age, which developed her interest and fascination with nature. Coming from a line of successful scientists, and following into her grandfather's steps, Julia decided to become a geologist before she turned six. This plan however suddenly changed on the day when she happened to watch a television program about porcelain painting artists and their work. That half-hour episode set her path, and she has dreamed of becoming a professional artist ever since.
In the late 1980s Aspin’s family moved to Tallinn, Estonia. Since professional art education was not an option for Julia at that time, upon graduating from a high school, she turned to her other passion – Nature – and enrolled in the School of Natural Sciences of Pskov State Pedagogical University, Russia. In 1995, after graduating with the Master of Science degree, she returned to Estonia and taught high school Geography and Biology until she moved to the United States in 1999.
It wasn't until her mid 30s, and after moving to the United States, that Julia seriously considered pursuing her life-long dream of becoming an artist. In search for a quality formal education, she enrolled in the Fine Art Painting program at the Academy of Art University, San Francisco. In 2015, she graduated cum laude with a Master of Fine Art degree in Painting and Drawing.
Since then Julia Aspin continued mastering her skills in representational painting, and her efforts have been highly recognized by the creative community. Julia is a recipient of numerous awards of local, national and international art shows. Her works can be found in private collections in the United States, Canada and Russia.
Aside of her professional art career, Julia Aspin also found success as Fine Art educator. She is teaching drawing and oil painting classes in person and online. Since 2017, Julia has been a lead Art teacher in Golden Bridge Academy in Irvine.
Inspired by nature and reminiscences of her past, Julia Aspin’s paintings translate a sense of quiet contemplation and serenity. Her paintings describe a living in connection with nature, celebrating it in its every form and appearance.
